At Utopia the safeguarding and welfare of all young people is our number one priority. Utopia’s safeguarding policy sets out the specific details on how we do this, however at the forefront of any decision we make is the welfare and safety of our students.

The key Safeguarding processes that underpin all of our work with students are detailed below:

  • The single central record and checks on adults
  • Safer recruitment and selection
  • Keeping accurate records
  • Multi – agency working
  • Monitoring children who are missing from education
  • Cultural Awareness
  • Managing allegations
  • Pupils and parent voice
  • The Curriculum
  • A safe, secure school site
  • Regular School self assessment and the inspection of Safeguarding

What to do if you are being bullied?

All staff are trained in dealing with incidents of a safeguarding nature and any concerns about a young person should be directed to Danny Cooke our Designated Safeguarding Lead

We want all parents and students to feel:

  • Comfortable that they know who to speak to if they have a safeguarding concern
  • Assured that safeguarding concerns will be taken seriously
  • Able to access key policies and information when needed
  • Supported in the process of managing incidents if they arise
  • Empowered to learn ways to prevent issues before they happen
  • Part of a community that encourages a transparent and collaborative environment
  • Confident in knowing what other services are available locally to support them
